What was the inspiration?

 

 

 

 

 

While teaching at the university Dr. J. Dargienė was helping students to implement their creative ideas. After a couple of years of teaching, she has unexpectedly realised “… that living for/helping others was not my only calling. I was also eager to create myself. It happened that I was planning a family vacation trip to Croatia at that time and I was not able to find a comfortable backpack for the trip, thus, I decided to make a backpack myself. That was how I started my journey into the business world”.

Dr. J. Dargienė has posted a picture of the produced backpack on her Facebook profile and unexpectedly received a lot of compliments as well as requests to produce several similar backpacks. One post with a picture of her first product in social media made a great acknowledgement of and advertisement to her business “Snaudė”.

  • Haberdashery products – handbags, backpacks, handhelds, computer cases and more – are embroidered and sublimated to achieve exceptional design.
  • The function of the product is equally important, and enormous attention is paid to it.
  • The main task is to produce a durable, value-added ergonomic product.
  • Quality matters at all stages of production, from the choice of materials to the presentation of the product to the consumer.

What were the main challenges/struggles to setting up?

The main struggle was and still is a general understanding and knowledge of a business management, human resources management and accounting.
How did they overcome these?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Dr. J. Dargienė is still learning how to overcome the above-mentioned challenges, therefore, she is a diligent attendee of Kaunas Science and Technology Park’s programmes (Evolut 4.0, networking meetings, consultations with mentors).

  • Brand and marketing:
  • An attractive and unique logo designed by Dr. J. Dargienė‘sson, who was studying graphic design at that time;
  • Brand name “Snaudė” a unique name which has a nice and warm connotation for Lithuanians: flower/herb “Sonchus” commonly known as sow thistlesis very popular in Lithuania.
  • Courage to advertise on social media & decision to commercialize the product: J. Dargienė admits that the post of her first product in social media was some kind of unconscious message to costumers about her decision to start a new chapter of her life related to creativity and furthermore commercialization of the developed product.
  • Unique products: Haberdashery products are embroidered and sublimated to achieve exceptional design. A durable, value-added ergonomic product.
  • Small team: “Snaudė“has a small team, this factor allows to be flexible and fast in reacting to changes of demand of products as well as to adjust business to different conditions, to ensure quality as well as constantly boost creativity.
